Re: Sabaton
And Swedish Pagans can't be "new history" either! About Metal Machine: I've heard that Joakim wrote down all the lyrics on a roll of toilet paper while discharging a call of nature

Re: Sabaton
That's what I'm talking about. I like much older stuff than that more. These times in history I find rather boring.

Re: Sabaton
But: and I just can't connect those two. I feel like it's just an ordinary "down with the tyrant" story...

Re: Sabaton
Well, whatever it is, this text that Andreas wrote up there obviously doesn't concern the same person like the one in the two next quotes....

Re: Sabaton
Well, they did a song about Nazgul and there's "Hail to the king". But yeah, it's mostly about modern warfare
But Hail to the King is on Metalizer, and Andre was (I think) talking specifically about Primo Victoria. Anyway, Primo Victoria has a song about the Six Day War and another about Vietnam (again I think). Two of my favorites from the album, those. Back to non-modern warfare, they later also did a Viking Metal song (in case you forgot/didn't know). Plus there's the two other songs like Metal Machine: Metal Crüe and Metal Ripper. Edit: sorry about the quote above, it didn't work out right. 'nother edit: sorry again! I really ought to read all the new posts before saying anything. Looks like someone beat me to mentioning Swedish Pagans.

Re: Sabaton
I forgot about "Swedish Pagans". Just to be clear here: by modern warfare I mean 20th century and onwards. Not CoD type modern warfare

Re: Sabaton
Saw Sabaton last Sunday in Eindhoven. They had a nice setlist, just watch:
Ghost Division In the Name of God White Death Screaming Eagles The Final Solution Swedish Pagans 40:1 Cliffs of Gallipoli Into the Fire/Attero Dominatus Purple Heart
Encore: Coat of Arms Primo Victoria Metal Ripper
I requested In the Name of God because 9/11 was 10 years ago exactly. They did it, nice. And during the show I thought: Purple Heart would be cool. A few songs later: Purple Heart. First time in five years. Lastly, I expected Rise of Evil when Joakim introduced a song being about his wee-wee. Turned out to be Metal Ripper.

Re: Sabaton
Speaking of "In the Name of God", I actually heard it for the first time just a few days after they announced Osama Bin Laden's death. I was like "Fuck yeah, the guy who largely inspired this song is dead, yeah!"

Re: Sabaton
What do you guys think about Sabaton's new album Carolus Rex? Myself, I think it's their best album yet, but since I'm Swedish and the album's theme is Swedish history, I might be a little biased
