 Re: Gamma Ray
Actually, since posting that I found out that I had heard the song before today. It turns out I heard it for the first time over the summer on last.fm. But I still can't shake the feeling that the chorus sounded a little different...

 Re: Gamma Ray
It's all written by Kai Hansen and I can't find any info about the song being played by Helloween. Maybe you just remember the song incorrectly?

 Re: Gamma Ray
Andreas, something tells me you might have missed my second post. I did hear the song a while ago, and as I think about it, I feel like I must have heard a live version or my memory is just wrong as far as the stress on the words goes. Actually, it might be the difference b/w TV speakers and my headphones, the latter of which are admittedly of not particularly high quality.

 Re: Gamma Ray
It shouldn't be such a big difference between the live and studio version, and especially not between two kinds of speakers that you can't recognize the song.

 Re: Gamma Ray
I didn't say I didn't recognize the song. I just thought I never heard the song before, hence my confusion at how familiar it sounded. The only difference b/w how I heard it yesterday and how I remember hearing it before is just the amount of stress Kai Hansen puts on the words at the end of the chorus. I remember it sounding a little choppy and staccato before, but it sounded much smoother and a bit softer than my memory when I heard it recently. Even if I heard a live version, I know I heard Kai Hansen, and the way I remember hearing him sing is something he does, just apparently not in this song. Actually, I can think of a perfect example of when he does the thing I'm thinking of. In the chorus of Dethrone Tyranny (from No World Order), he sings that way for "Resurrecting paradise/Cry for freedom." It's that qualit of spitting the words out that I'm talking about.

 Re: Gamma Ray
Well, HF's cover on this new (goddamn) album is Send Me A Sign... let's hope they'll do SOMETHING good on this album and make this one sound nice.
