Power of thy Sword song (Manowar or Rhapsody?)
So I created this poll to see what you think about this. It's about the song Power of thy Sword by Manowar, and the cover Rhapsody made of it. The question is: which version is the best? I got you the youtube links. Manowar's original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsPDcgN23y8Rhapsody's cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmhxWi5O1ggIn my opinion, Rhapsody made a boring song with a demo-ish sound really cool, epic and emotional. Seriously, I gave Manowar lots of chances, and I listened to this song to hear what people like so much about it, but that was after I heard Rhapsody's version. Seriously, Rhapsody should make more covers like that.

Must say that the Rhapsody version is so much heavier than the original. Thats worth my vote

Re: Power of thy Sword song (Manowar or Rhapsody?)
In my opinion they are not comparable. When first heard this cover at first I didn't even recognize it as a Manowar cover. Rhapsody totally remade it with all the synths. So they both have advantages. The Manowar one is typical Manowar: Raw, fast, catchy, over the top and with this epic screams of Eric Adams. Makes you sing/scream all the time, raise your fist and babble of uniting all brothers of metal! The Rhapsody cover is different. Artistic, complex, epic and rather makes you stand still to enjoy it. Fabio has definitely one of the very best voices in metal - in all ranges except what I call his efforts of evil singing (he tried it in When Demons Awake and a bit here as well). In fact it's cruel to ask me to decide between Rhapsody and Manowar... Even though Rhapsody will always be my first choice over everything else, Manowar is close behind And last but not least: Cover or not, usually the version I hear first I like better. Then even Manowar can loose against Therion who covered Thor in a that perfect way that the cover got even better than the awesome original.

Re: Power of thy Sword song (Manowar or Rhapsody?)
I prefer the original version of Manowar. Rhapsody made a good and original cover version though.
My biggest issue with the Rhapsody cover is that it has too much synthesizer to my liking. I am generally not a fan of keyboards / synths used in songs.
Another part that bothers me about the cover is the singing. I have no problems at all with the vocals for Rhapsody songs and he is a good singer... but for me his voice does not work in this song. I think it's what Islane means with the "evil singing" she mentions. I miss some raw dominant power in his voice, something which Eric Adams is very good at, in my opinion.
Then, the Rhapsody version is a lot more complex than the Manowar version, and personally I don't like that. This is very much a matter of personal taste, but I prefer songs that make me sing/scream along, headbang my head off, raise one's hands in the air, ... basically songs that make me want to not stand still, that make me want to party.

I like the Rhapsody version a lot more too! Maybe it´s because I hate Manowar(not for the music they make but for the lyrics and things they say).

^Yes, that's my main problem with Manowar too. I'm a guy who can see the humour in almost everything, but their act is just not funny.
One could say: Manowar's original is an insult to Rhapsody's cover!

I can NOT sign that!!! And be happy that I'm no Manowar fanatic, just somebody who likes what they do.
