That's actually a nice song :D

But they're totally frickin' AWESOME, so take my advice: don't stop listening to them! That song came from a CD that wasn't exactly metal.

What do you mean? Songs? Or whole albums? Except for Battalions of Fear, Follow the Blind, Tales from the Twilight World and The Forgotten Tales, they're all great to start with. Personally, I started with Nightfall in Middle-Earth. There are short interludes between almost all the songs, but the songs are great IMO. The more raw and speedy stuff can be found on the first three albums I mentioned, but they're nothing compared to Somewhere Far Beyond and Imaginations from the Other Side. Their last two albums, A Night at the Opera and A Twist in the Myth are more mid-tempo and have multi-layered vocal lines. But still I would recommend Nightfall... to start with.

And one tip: go for the remastered versions, except for the last two albums, all albums are remastered and contain some extra songs (sometimes only demos, but still).

Yeah, I don't know what it is with Blind Guardian. They just have so many awesome songs, I could easily provide you with 2 or 3 more solid and awesome top five songs.
