So I've considered making this thread for a while now, and since I've some spare time I thought: why not?

HF - Glory to the Brave: one of the first metal ballads I've ever heard. Especially the chorus is nice, when you can hear the lower pitched backing vocals.

Sabaton - The Price of a Mile/Angels Calling: both songs about the madness of WW1. TPoaM catches some kind of vibe that almost makes me visualise a giant army marching through a wasteland into death. And I simply love the violin intro of Angels Calling.

Blind Guardian - Harvest of Sorrow: just read Tolkien's story about Túrin Turambar and listen to this song. Saddest song ever.

This is only the top of the iceberg, as we say in Holland, but you got to start somewhere, don't you?

A song which moves me emotionaly is the 'A Question Of Heaven' from Iced Earth..... The lyrics of this song are too strong, they are send you in a magic world with love and darkness at the same time!!! Excellent song!!! The voice of the singer and the opera and the music behind make the song OVER THE MOON

I have to say Sabaton - Purple Heart!

That song is truly amazing, and it gives me goosebumps almost every time
And the lyrics about the Vietnam War and the decoration "Purple Heart" is amazing, I didn't think there was a possibility to write such an amazing song about war and dying in a war, but Sabaton managed to do it.
This song together with TPoAM as Andreas named are my favourite songs by Sabaton, just because of the lyrics and the feeling that you really are on the battlefield.

Sorry that this almost turned out to be a review of Sabaton songs, but I hope you get the point

Hymn to Life of Timo Tolkki is something unimaginably beautiful and emotional.
I really apreciate this guy and he sure has had rough life.
It really is something you can't understand before listening.

Others:

The story of A Walk on a Broken Road of Excalion sure is great too.

I just don't understand how all the teenage girls are crying over the human relationship drama of Sonata Arcticas lyrics. I just don't understand.

Many Strato - ballads however are another thing.
The closing track of Joacims solo album (Forever Ends) is great too

Somehow Land of Eternity of Firewind (very scorpions like ballad) makes me in a sad and good mood at the same time.

Son of pain by Rhapsody does have a huge emotional charge too just like some other Rhapsody songs.

Leverage has a big bunch of good ballads like Stranger, Gone and Learn to Live

Thunderstone has some good emotinal songs like Spread My Wings and Sea of Sorrow but also a bit lighter ballads like the overly catchy Another Time

Do you mean also love songs or only songs like Glory to the brave?
Usually I'm not a fan of emotional songs like love songs because they make me always sad...I hate it to be lonley
Hammerfall - Never Ever. This song is so beautiful and so sad.
Dreamland - Song for you. This song is so heart warming and romantic.

There are a lot songs of Shinedown which move me emotional. Like "Call me", "45" or "Save me". A song which means really much to me is "Rooftops" by the Lostprophets. The song helped me when I felt really bad.
Their song "Last summer" makes me always sad because I hate it to say goodbye.

Sonata Arctica - Paid in Full...the lyrics mean a lot to me for personal reasons. Especially the part at the end of the song.

And the most touching song: KNOCKING ON HEAVENS DOOR! *sigh*

One sad song that I really can't stand to listen to is The Living Years by Mike & the Mechanics. Thank God I don't relate to that song. The song is about a father and son who was always arguing, just nonstop arguing. Then one day the father passed away and only then did the son realize just how much he loved his father but of course then it's too late to tell him.

OK this is completely weird: I saw the wikipedia page of the single of that song, and the UK releasedate was January 22 (my father's birthday) in 1989 (my year of birth).

And by the way, Sonata has a few great songs too indeed. The song that appeals to me the most emotionally is Under Your Tree, about losing your dog. This almost happened almost exactly two years ago.

And there's also a few songs I don't want to admit that they move me. But that's another story

Another song that moves me everytime I hear it is "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" by Meat Loaf, it's simply amazing, and the lyrics are wonderful, and the video is quite nice too

The song that really moves me emotionally is "As Long As It's Not About Love" by Dio. That song is so beautiful. It makes me cry.
