I've only really just got the album (literally just bought it from iTunes!). Listened to Legion and Something for the Ages so far, and I must say... the album sounds absolutely amazing! A real step back in the right direction.

Hallowed Be My Name to me almost sounds like Sonata Arctica's 'Peacemaker' - esp. the intro with the gun ;) I quite like this song. Simple, but I like the lyrics. Very metal :)

I like this album. I heard it at 20th of februar, released in Germany, three times.
Anders Johansson said in the magazine Metal Hammer: There is no song that fall down
from the level of the others.
He is right! The album is pure Metal from the first to the last song.

A good album but I do not think Hammerfall have made a bad album.

I wasn't disappointed by the drums, I knew from the beginning that they would be... well, Hammerfall-style drums. Which means in common tounge, simple.
Anders can do alot better, but I don't think he is allowed to really go mad on those drums.

Yeah, that's exactly what I tried to say. I mean, they're not my favourite style of drums - but they're simply their own unique style like you said. And if you've seen or heard Anders' live drum solo... well, he really can go mad. =D

The more I listen to the album, the more I realise that Legion is an absolutely bitchin' song, especially at the chorus.

"My name is Leeeeeeegion!" sends shivers up my spine, and (almost to the point of embarrassment) empowers me and makes me sing along

I also think that the album is quite good, but maybe not quite as good as Threshold.

Any Means Necessary, Legion, Bring The Hammer Down and One Of A Kind are really impressing and Life Is Now is somehow a real feel-good song (I had to think a little bit about Edguy while listening to it the first time). Furthermore I really cheered that HF have brought back the good old doublebass-uptempo songs I missed so much since Chapter V (which was way the worst HF album from my point of view).
But anyways there are songs like the already mentioned Hallowed Be My Name and for me Punished And Enslaved which sound rather uninspiered and boring. The Title track is damn weak when compared to other title tracks like Threshold, Crimson Thunder, ReNeGaDe, LEGACY OF KINGS or GLORY TO THE BRAVE(!!!!), although it's not bad. Too, I like other ballads more than Between Two Worlds, but I'm looking foward to hear it live for I think this song grows every time I listen to it. I don't really have a problem with long intros (as long as they don't sound like Cronos masturbating...) and the the intro from Legion is quite funny. The "tock-tock" at the beginning sounds like a demon during a sound-check or something
On top of it, Joacim sounds as good as never before, the production / sound is extremely good and the guitars sound really fresh, although the whole songwriting didn't sound too fresh at all (like it did on Threshold). I'd have liked to hear more songs such as One Of A Kind which is quite complex for an average HF-Song.
To sum it up, I really like the album, but it cannot compete with some of the others.

The album is quite inconsistent (as with almost every HF-album)

Some fuckin' great songs in "Punish And Enslave" and "Hallowed Be My Name"...good songs in "Any Means Necessary", "Something For The Ages", "Bring The Hammer Down", "Legion" and "One of A Kind"....
shitty songs in "Life Is Now" and "My Sharona"....

Titletrack has a neat main riff and chorus, but the rest is lame. The ballad is OK, but i'm not a big fan of ballads really, but it's not bad nor is it great.

The production is their best and heaviest so far, Joacim does his best HF-performance so far, but the drumming is still very boring and monotonous (not Anders fault)

All in all, it's a good album. A shake-up compared with last 2-3 albums.
