Need help for general development in metal
So I've been ranted against several times for not knowing anything about the important bands in heavy metal, so I decided to improve my general development. For this, I can use your help too. I have some CDs on my to buy-list to compensate my lack of knowledge, and maybe you have some good ideas that I can put on my list. The oldest albums I own are Blind Guardian's Battalions of Fear and Helloween's Keeper part 1.
List so far:
Dio - Holy Diver Iron Maiden - Powerslave Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? Queen - A Night At The Opera (ok not metal but still) Queensrÿche - Operation: Mindcrime Scorpions - Love At First Sting
Any more suggestions?

On another forum, someone said that Metal can't go more pop than British Steel. Not that I consider it a bad thing, but what would be better: BS or Painkiller?

Re: Need help for general development in metal
When you are talking about some of the older bands with long histories you may be better served to get one of those compilation cds like Judas Priest - Priest Live. It would give you more of an overall taste of them. Some bands I'd suggest are:
Judas Priest Iron Maiden Accept W.A.S.P. Ratt L.A. Guns Ensiferum Motley Crue Scorpions Ozzy Osbourne Dio Primal Fear
I'm sure I forgot something, but that should get you started for now.

Add to the list also Queensryche-Operation Mindcrime 2, if you have 1... And also from Judas Priest, I suggest Angel Of Retribution than... Iron Maiden-Fear Of The Dark and maybe Gamma Ray-Majestic My 4 personal favourites
