I have both Windows and Linux on my laptop, and I think I prefer Linux because my brother strongly dislikes Windows. You know, he's a computer whiz and I, on the other hand, know nothing about computers so he's been teaching me stuff and I've kind of embraced his attitude and opinions. So you certainly don't have to be a geek to use Linux - you can use it in a very simply way if you want to. I use it the same way I use Windows and on that level, they really don't differ so much from each other.

What I like about Linux is the fact that it has no problem with viruses. What I like about Windows is that it's able to run The Sims 3 (my addiction ) and some other programs I need. I enjoy having both Windows and Linux, it works well for me. Although I admit, I don't really need Linux - basically, the only reason why I have it is my brother.

My experience has taught me that it is the most convenient to have both a windows and a linux pc next to each other as they are very compatible (as in: if it doesn't work on one of them, it will most likely work on the other one) :D

That's true! :)

The cool thing about Linux is you can play your Windows games if you know how.
There is a program called Wine which helps you with that. There is a list of games and help for each on the developer's site so it's not that big of a problem.

My pick will be Linux.
Just because it's cool, fast and mainly free :D There are no troubles with licenses and you can even modify it if you have the know-how.
It's not only for programmers and geeks. There are distributions that are so user friendly they almost feel like Mac(which is also a UNIX type OS just like Linux-like OSs).

I recommend everyone to check it out at least. You can try it on your PC without installation. Just download a disk image, burn it to a cd and boot it and you'll get a taste of Linux without messing with your Windows :)

No problem :)
There's even a simpler one called something like "Play on Linux" which is basically a graphical wrapper for wine so you can install the game just like a windows one (although sometimes it does need some tweeking under the hood).
If you did everything and it doesn't work, just go to Linux settings and select a graphical driver you want and it will probably go next time you launch it.
