 What Genres?
What genres do you listen to? Obviously you like HammerFall, but what else? As for me, I don't like rap or country, but I like pretty much anything else from classical to black metal. My main interests right now are more power/speed metal followed by musicals stuff haha. I'll listen to music from musicals I wouldn't bother to watch (Wicked, RENT, Mamma Mia, Disney broadway ones, Les Miserables, etc...) plus others I have seen (Such as Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Hairspray, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease, Phantom of the Opera, etc..). I feel less inclined towards that lately though, so I'll need to find another genre to listen to a lot other than metal. My interests change rapidly though. I have a hard time listening to more than a few songs by one band/artist at a time, let alone a genre. HammerFall, Edguy (and Avantasia..), Rhapsody of Fire, Sonata Arctica and Falconer I could listen to all day though. My current favorites I guess. Plus all the good older stuff is easy to listen to a lot. I could listen to technical death metal all day as well, but I can't because it makes me hyper haha. 19 stations on Pandora. ;P

 Re: What Genres?
I can listen to all genres as long as the songs are well written and the singer hit the right tones But I can't stand a song that contains a repeating melody through all of the song.

 Re: What Genres?
Everything where the singer is actually singing gets a chance. Concerning music... the more epic the better. As that means drums and trumpets and such stuff I enjoy Rhapsody as much as classical music such as Dvorak's "From the New World". But I have to admit that I prefer epic metal to epic classical music. Concerning metal I'm rather limited. Nothing "too hard" (sounds like I'm a whimp ). So all the PM stuff, true metal up to Progressive. Besides this I love one band that doesn't fit into that genres: the German punkrock band "Die Toten Hosen". Just purely amazing, even more when you're drunk And last but not least I have a tiny weak spot for such stuff as the old songs of Scooter. Kinda reminds me of my younger times... I'm weird, I know...

 Re: What Genres?
Rhapsody being as a word or the band? Confusing me lol. They have a lot of classical stuff in it, but they're certainly metal... Ah, I also really really do not like nasally vocals. Another of my favorite bands is EMB... Neuroticfish.

 Re: What Genres?
The band. I just refuse to use this idiotic appendic "of Fire". And of course they're metal, they were the ones who brought me to metal.

 Re: What Genres?
Ah, great topic. o/ I listen to... I don't know, almost everything, my music taste really doesn't seem to have any limits. =P I mean... well, this is my profile in Last.fm, feel free to check it out if you're interested for some reason. Well, some genres then... (symphonic) power metal, heavy metal, classic rock, Britpop, hard rock, alternative rock, country, progressive rock, soundtracks, instrumental music, acoustic music, guitar music... and so on. I don't really like rap, hip hop, techno, electronic music or over-industrial hullabaloo, though. Some of my favourite bands and artists are 30 Seconds to Mars, HammerFall, Coldplay, Muse, Rhapsody (of Fire), Pink Floyd, Cryonic Temple, Gary Moore, Nightwish, Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits, Uriah Heep, Helloween, Wigwam, Verenpisara, In Flames, Jason Hayes, Iced Earth, Europe, Willie Nelson, Porcupine Tree, Dream Evil, Zero Assoluto, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Police, Sabaton, Harry Gregson-Williams, Soul Asylum, The Who... ha-ha, I could go on forever but I guess I'd better stop now. =P Music builds a huge part of my life.

 Re: What Genres?
Ah, ok. Yeah, I use "of Fire" sometimes, most of the time not. Their Unholy Warcry, HammerFall's Natural High and Blind Guardian's Otherland were the three songs that got me into metal.

 Re: What Genres?
I'm more of a blues/rock guy than metal nowadays. I love 80's rock/metal like Gary Moore, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Poison, Quiet Riot, Iron Maiden, etc. and I'm rather less inclined to power metal... I find a lot of it is veeery amateur, with broken English vocals and the same cheesey riffs and synths over and over. I find a lot of it doesn't speak to me any more, so I moved on That being said, my favourite band (of any genre) is easily Blind Guardian. I think they've found something truly original and amazing - very melodic with great lyrics that tell a story. Otherwise, I like a lot of other stuff, from black/death to thrash. I like classical, both guitar and orchestral, as well as some grunge and punk: Pearl Jam, Creed, All American Rejects, etc. What I can't stand though is this modern shit we're bombarded with, like Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Killers, etc. They're simply awful, dull and thoroughly depressing. Basically, I'll listen to anything so long as there's an awesome melody, good vocals, and it rocks. The best songs are those that really touch something inside of you - more than just being heavy or whatever - something that sends a shiver down your spine, like the opening bars of Poison's 'Ride the Wind', or BG's Noldor

 Re: What Genres?
I listen to everything from Punk Rock to Black Metal. (including Hard Rock) Ofcourse HammerFall is my No1 favorite band but I do like: *checks iPod * ok here we got: The Acacia Strain, All That Remains, Apocalyptica, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Avantasia, Avenged Sevenfold... and that's the ones on A. What shall I do with 80GB on my iPod? and I still got like 47GB left:D My top favorite bands after Hammerfall are: In Flames, The Used, Bullet For My Valentine, Nightwish, Within Temptation.... by the way ....if anyone noticed my signature, it's lyrics from the song 'Scars' by Papa Roach... THEY ROCK!! but Hammerfall METAL!!! 1 thing is for sure: the last thing I do before I suicide is to go to a Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana concert.
