 Re: Apocalyptica
A bit strange thing to play at the funeral. Anyway, I know how you feel now.

 Re: Apocalyptica
How are they live? I heard it's more like a thrash concert than cellos...

 Re: Apocalyptica
I've seen them live quite a few times now (about 10 times I think), I wouldn't quite call it a thrash concert... altho their shows have evolved from real cello concerts to something more... "normal", or how shall I put it.
At first they'd perform with cellos only. Then they added a drummer, who'd only play on about half of the songs in the concert. Then the drums got more and more present on the records, and in the live performances as well. Now recently they've even added a singer on some songs when they perform them live.
It's always been a rock show, but the cellos used to be very recognizable, Alas that got a little lost on the albums as well. It's never been a "quiet" show, people have always been headbanging to the Metallica covers etc... but it's overall still a rather relaxed crowd, and the last times I saw them, it even seemed to me that, now they have more commercial success, the crowds have gotten more and more passive. I usually find myself to be (almost) the only one headbanging, with people giving me strange looks when I do so... and when it comes to crowd participation, the singing along to the famous Metallica songs or other older (cover) songs has gotten a lot less... Most people in the crowd here nowadays only know the most recent singles, from the latest 2, maybe 3 albums... I have known a moshpit to occur once, but I believe that was during a slayer or sepultura cover song... the audience usually is the worst when it comes to fighting over the setlists...

 Re: Apocalyptica
Hehe, thanks. I saw them live already by the way, at Wacken. We made a nice little circle pit during Nothing Else Matters
