I'm not ashamed for being "childish". I mean, my GF thinks my love for metal will be over in a few years. I can't predict the future, but my guess is that it will last my whole life. When I have alzheimers, I only want to hear Mirror of Souls by Theocracy

Yes, I've heard many times that there's no person in the world that remained metalhead until the old age. Many say that, but in my opinion, that's bullshit, as many other superstitions are. If you truly love and respect something, you won't just let it go... I might stop listening to some bands I currently find great, but shall I ever forget HammerFall and Blind Guardian, for example? Hardly. Only people who become metalheads to look cool and belong among certain groups of friends can "get enough of it", and these rare true fans of metal are actually bound to it by heart, not fashion or whatever. So fuck what she says (sorry, but that's true) and stick to what you believe in, you'll see soon, you're the right one in this!

Oh yeah, I will most probably prove her wrong over the years I love music, and lots of the music I love is called "metal". But also classical, folk, 80s pop...

She's right about metalheads to brag about what they listen to. But you will always remain faithful to this.. You have life, you have dreams, you don't judge people by music (probably), which means metal is actually something you truly love. Because you're not fake in anything, and neither in that (at least that's what it seems to me).
