Yes, I should do that, it might work. I've only listened to two albums by In Flames but I really liked them. I'm not into death metal, either, but what I like about In Flames are the melodic elements of their music. I don't know much about their earlier albums, though.

I know only that their earlier albums are much worse (for me) than the newer ones, so if I were you, I'd stick to the latest and the few before them.
