 Blind Guardian
I thought this band might deserve its own thread in this forum. So here it is! There should be a new album of them within a year (but don't pin me down on that). And I'm very interested in their orchestral project, with music for Lord of the Rings, with Hansi on vocals. Also worth mentioning: Hansi is one of the few vocalists using sort of harsh vocals that I like. So they can't be bad

 Re: Blind Guardian
I love Blind Guardian. Otherland was one of the three songs that got me hooked to metal.

 Re: Blind Guardian
I'm one of the few who see Nightfall as their absolute masterpiece. It is also one of this albums I can always listen too. But my "holiest" album is Somewhere Far Beyond because it is signed by all band members and it is the second best BG album

 Re: Blind Guardian
You're not alone in your opinion about "Nightfall" That album brought me to BG. It all went like this: a few years ago one of my brothers was looking for drawings of the Silmarillion-stories. He came accross a nice drawing of Morgoth with Luthien dancing in front of him, he liked it very much. At the beginning of this year, I was looking around a bit on wikipedia, looking for new bands, and I was looking at a list of concept albums. Then I saw an album with a Silmarillion-theme, and it happened to be Blind Guardian. And when I saw the cover, I just had to show it to my brother (who isn't the biggest fan of metal). A few days later, I bought the CD when I found it in a store. I liked it instantly, but not nearly as much as I like it now. Since May this year, I also got interested in their other albums, and I bought A Night at the Opera, Imaginations... and Somewhere Far Beyond. I love them all, but Nightfall remains my favourite

 Re: Blind Guardian
To be honest I'm no big fan of the other albums apart from NIME and SFB and maybe ANATO (which I really despised at first listening, but later changed my mind). I can't put a finger on what I don't like, but it's not really my cup. But NIME being Tolkien-based was what got me hooked. That I don't like the whole BG discography is definitely not the fault of Hansi Kürsch, who has an amazing voice. But somehow I prefer him on the Ayreon releases. (Did I already mention I'm a huge Ayreon fan? )

"Quietly crept in and changed us all"........damn I LOVE that tune. It is a masterpiece no doubt about that. The Bard Song live was great too. To hear the crowd singing the song was priceless. Those two sold me on BG

 Re: Blind Guardian
Yes, you'll have to wait more than 14 minutes to hear that silence. I can't get the song ripped from my CD by the way
