 Care of the hair?
It seems here are a few longhaired people, so how do you care your hair? Right now I'm very frustrated about my hair. I just noticed it has a lot of split ends and doesn't look that good. Years ago I had my hair down to my waist, then I got a "modern" haircut and now I'm in a kind of hair-misery. I don't want cut it down but I guess I have to sacrifice up to 6 cm of my. The hairdresser hates my hair. She is pretty small and has problems to cope with my hair. My longhaired (male) friends don't have problems like this. Is it gender specific or are my mates just lucky? Do you have any tips to avoid such a hair misery?

How I care my hair? Brush it twice a day, wash it with water everyday, with schampoo 3-4 times a week. Let's it dry for it's self everytime. No hairdryers Cuts it every 12th month actully and no splitted hairtops

It's also depends on your hair type. I guess I'm lucky, I have strong hair... haven't been to the hairdresser in about 8 years, but I do cut out the split ends myself sometimes (once a year, if I don't forget). I brush them once a day, every morning (a brush is supposed to be better than a comb). Oh, and don't brush it too wildly, also not very good. And I wash them once or twice a week. I've been told not all shampoos are equally good for your hair (some brands are said to be more aggressive than others). Can't really say from the top of my head which are better tho. Washing it with cold water is supposed to be better as well, but I never can get myself to do that I don't use a hairdryer either. It does take me 6 - 8 hours to dry by itself tho

 Re: Care of the hair?
I don't use a hairdryer. My hair looks pretty ruffled when I use a hairdryer. Mine takes only 40-60 Minutes to dry itself. Do you wear a scrunchie or hair tie? Somebody told me wearing a scrunchie isn't that good for the hair. Especially those with metal. I read it's not good for the hair to use the same shampoo and conditioner for a long time. Since yesterday I'm sitting on my desk with a pair of scissors. Everytime I see a hair with splissed end I cut it. It's pretty time-robbing and probably foolish but if there is something like hairdresser-phobia, I got it! My last haircut was in May 2008. It's obviously time for a haircut.

I use the type of hair scrunchies that don't have a metal part... those shouldn't be too damaging, I believe. ...and I also got a pair of hairdresser's scissors, I do that as well, cut split ends out hair by hair, so you're not the only one

 Re: Care of the hair?
I just brush it in the morning and after workout. Then wash it in the evening with hydrating shampoo and conditioner.

 Re: Care of the hair?
I had no cut last six years. I shampoo my hair each seccond day, the other day I only wet the ends. I comb it only in the morning when the hair is wet after schowering. Tyrant Heart

 Re: Care of the hair?
I have to wash my hair every day. For some reason "good" shampoo is awful on my hair... Mine does best with cheap stuff. I never blow dry it. I use conditioner sometimes, not often. Brushing it is different each day. Sometimes I simply run my fingers through it and don't even touch a brush, sometimes I brush it a couple times, sometimes a lot... lol. I trim it every couple of months or so myself or have a family member trim it for me. I refuse to go get it cut now. Last time I asked fo only a few inches of. Like 4 at the most. She took off 8.

 Re: Care of the hair?
8 inches? If I converted it right that's something about 20 cm. That's a lot! At the moment my hair is ca. 60cm long. I wash it twice a week with special hair-repair shampoos and conditioners. I tried a lot shamoos but so far only two brands are good for my hair. When I use others, my hair becomes strawy and at high humidity it's immediately curly and crimped.

Curls? I'd die for curls! I can try everything, but all curly attemptes hardly survive for longer than half an hour
