Post How did you come to HammerFall?
Hallo to all,

this is Tyrant Heart. About a year I started to change my guitar playing from Folkrock to Metal.
While exercising the new style I looked for books to help me. In "School Of Metal -one-" I found beside
of all known Metal-bands some riffs and solo-lines of HammerFall. I thougt immedietely, that I have
to try and I wanted to know, which guys stand for it. I looked up the internet and found HammerFall's
The Way Of The Warrior. I felt in love with it and I'm still burning untill now...

We 'll meet at 14th of april in the Vieanna Gasometer for HammerFall !!!

Tyrant Heart

Post Re: How did you come to HammerFall?
I'm quite a new HammerFall fan... found them last summer, in June I guess. I had just returned from my confirmation camp which started right away when the school year was over. I mainly listened to In Flames, Muse, Pink Floyd and The Police back then, I was somewhat frustrated with my musical taste and really needed to experience something totally new and powerful. Power metal was quite an obvious choice for me, ha-ha.

Well, after I had returned back home, me and my good friend (who's now my boyfriend, ha-ha, times change ) had a lot of deep and intriguing discussions about life and people and everything... particularly music, as you can guess. He was really into power metal and introduced me to many bands which were totally new for me. The first one was Iced Earth. It was followed by Rhapsody of Fire (damn, I was so into them that summer!), Cryonic Temple, Sabaton... and finally, above all - HammerFall. For me, it was definitely time to let the hammer fall. And I'll never stop thanking my friend, that's for sure!

So... this friend, Tuomas, sent me their song called Renegade in order that I could see if I liked it. I had already noticed the similarities between our musical tastes so I naturally expected some good stuff. And that's what I got. Well, I actually didn't like Renegade that much, I thought it was "too lame", but Tume misunderstood my opinion and decided to send me every single studio album of theirs. =P Luckily he did. I mean, that's how it all started... and that's why I still owe something for him, ha-ha.

Renegade didn't impress me and it was like 2 am so I wasn't really eager to hear anything new... but somehow I still decided to go on and play myself one more song. "In Memoriam" seemed like an interesting title so I randomly picked it - and fell in love right away! It's still my favourite HammerFall song ever. But I know I'm always talking about it so I'll keep my mouth closed this time. ='P

I listened two more randomly picked songs that night, I Believe and The Fallen One (ha-ha, I've got that mystic ability to choose ballads only ). I fell in love with them as well... and when I woke up next day I was sure that HammerFall would stay in my life at least for a while. It has stayed, I've been a huge supporter since that memorable night... and "always will be", at least I hope so. (:

That's my story... nothing really revolutionary or exciting... but very, very special for me anyway.

I saw an advert for Glory to the Brave in a magazine many, many years ago. I thought, "Oh, that looks cool." so I went out and bought it. That is pretty much how I came to HF.

Before then (and still...) I generally listened to 80's rock/metal. Anything from Yes to Skid Row and everything in between. HammerFall brought me into the power metal scene, and I quickly found Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, etc. These days I don't listen to much power metal... Blind Guardian, Rhapsody and HF make it onto my iPod every now and then, but mostly I'm a blues/80's guy ;)

1999, right after I started listening to Metal (by Rhapsody btw) I was asking a friend who was way longer into metal to point out some other stuff I might like. Nothing too hard or too extreme, but catchy and kinda epic in Rhapsody's way. That day I returned home with Glory to the Brave and Legacy of Kings along with some Nightwish stuff. And an hour later I found myself with the chorus of At the End of the Rainbow stuck in my head.
By now, I listen way less to HF, I prefer more symphonic or progressive things, like Therion and Ayreon.

Saw the video for "Renegade" on TV when that album was released. Thought the song was really good, but listened to it too much I guess, 'cause the song is nowhere as good now as I thought back then.

Did eventually get "Legacy of Kings" and things got even better, so to speak =) Has been listening to the band since..

April last year. "Secrets" blew me away totally. When I went home by bike (I was at my friend's) I took a longer route, because otherwise I was home before the song finished.

It was three years ago that my brother listened Chapter V a lot, and I started to like it. Especially Hammer of Justice and Blood Bound, he played them a lot every day. And it was about time when I had to go to a three-days class trip, so I took the CD with me and listened it all the time. When I got home, I started to search for the others, and since then I'm addicted! :D And one of my biggest dreams will come true in April: I will see Hammerfall live! Yay!

I first heard about HammerFall through Guitar World magazine. I downloaded a few songs from them off then free Napster. Liked the songs so I got the albums.

I first heard of HF on hardradio.com around 2000 They used to play "End of the Rainbow" and "Let the Hammer fall" When I first heard "Let the Hammer Fall" I had to go buy the album it was on. From there I bought their other albums and the only one I haven't liked so far is Threshold.
