Do anyone in here has a form of disability?

I have. I'm hard of hearing, and I use hearing aids. They discovered it when I was about 1-1½ years old. In the left ear, i'm almost deaf. But in the right one, I hear pretty well.

But I also have ADHD. Eh, I hope you understand what I mean, I don't know if it's the national expression, but whatever, I can explain if you don't understand.

I don't have any disability, but I'm one of the 2 persons in my family (parents, 4 children) who hasn't got any.

So you're hard of hearing. That not really much heard of among metal fans. I mean, hard of hearing before even listening to metal :P But that sucks pretty much, since you can't hear the music like most of us can.
Weird question, but I'm really curious: if you use an mp3 player, do you only put one of the plugs in your ear? Or both?

And I know ADHD. As a matter of fact, my best friend has ADHD. And my eldest brother has ADD (so lack of concentration without the hyperactivity part). I wouldn't call it a disability really, but since you can get an allowance in Holland when you have AD(H)D, I think you might call it like that.

Anyway, good luck with both of these things.

No, that's not a weird question you asked, as I use to say, No question is too stupid to be asked! I put the both plugs in my ears, of course, I can use the right plug and take off the left one, but then I can't hear when someone's talking to me. Because, I only use the right ear to hear someting, when I'm without hearing aids. But even thought I hear so badly, I just love listening to music. I don't know why!

In Sweden you can get something called handicap addition.. Well I can't translate the right words but I hope you understand what I mean. You get moneys to pay the expenses you get. In my case, it's batterys.. When I'm 20 I have to pay my visits on hospital.. Uhm.. I couldn't explain better. They have some special equipments, and stuffs. U know, doctors. However, I can get it to pay batterys, visits, and more.

I'm going to seek for handicap addition. I hope I get it, it's a lot of moneys.

I have one but I don't like talking about much (only if it's neccessary) because nobody can see it and it's officially not a disability. It's handled as chronic disease.
It caused me a lot problems at school and a life of fear. It makes it also hard for me to find a job.
I don't dare to go to any gigs with a great light show because I'm afraid something bad could happen and I don't trink alcohol because of it.
On my view not the disease itself is a disability, it's the fear. :|

I wish you good luck! I hope you will get the handicap addition.

Andreas, I forgot to tell you something. I can hear music exactly the same as you do, I can hear all the tones, all the beats, everything. To say, I can't miss anything in the tune. The only difference is that I got a louder volume than you, for example.

Uhm, do you want to tell what disease you have? You don't need to if you don't wanna talk about it.

Thanks!

Well, I actually meant something like with that new kind of music installation, for music DVDs. Some kind of 5.1 thing. And of course, when listening to an mp3 player, sometimes there are parts that only can be heard through one of the plugs. Hope you get your allowance by the way.

And Sanya, of course you made us curious (that's how it works somehow). What is your handicap? Of course you don't need to talk about it, as LLMWL already said.

Well, I have epilepsy. I don't like talking about because people tend to prejudge me. But they also prejudge me if I don't tell them what's wrong. I want a life like everyone else but sometimes it's not that easy although I get attacks only while sleeping.

Well, I can assure you that epilepsy is nothing to be ashamed off. You can't do anything about the fact that you suffer from it, so don't worry. I do know it's pretty inconvenient, to say the least. For example: a nephew of mine had an attack just after he was born, is 12 years old now but is mentally 4 years old or something. He can't live at his parent's home anymore.

And as you said: it is indeed pretty scary, the idea that you have an above-average-chance to get a stroke. I'm not trying to scare you or something, but I saw in a documentary that when you get an epileptic attack, it can start in the part of the brain that controls the sleeping. So maybe nobody will notice anything, while something's completely wrong. You don't have this kind of attacks, I hope?

Anyway, good luck. It must be a real shame when you're not able to go to a live gig from a band you like.

What do you mean with DVD's? Uh, i'm not quite good in english, you might see that. Do you mean the surrond system, like.. Dolby digital 5.1? If U know what I mean? haha, i'm sorry if I sounds stupid or something! :D

I admit that there are parts that I can't hear. Actually, sometimes when I listen to music with my hearing aids (I believe, i'm not quite sure if it's with hearing aids or without), I can hear beats or any part of the music that I missed without my hearing aids. It happens sometimes, but not very often.

I tried once to only put the left plug in my ear, where I'm almost deaf, and I noticed that I can't hear everything. I believe that I just can hear the beat.

The disadvantages with my type is that I can't hear very very loud sounds. Like an fire alarm, for example. I can't hear if the brand alarm starts, I must have lights or something who signal that the alarm is on.

At home, I have special appliences. For example; I has a applicence under my mattress and a flash light, who vibes/flashing when it's someone who's rings the bell, or if the fire alarm is on, or someone's who calling home. It's very good! The only disadvantage is that the applience does only works in my room, the only applience is in my room. Actually, I need flashes in the living room for example, or the bathroom or something. In the living room we have a applience who makes that I can hear the TV clearer, I just have to put on a special set. It's quite good anyway, the ones who's using hearing aids has a lot of good appliences who helps!

I don't really have a disability (at least, they don't count as a disability, as far as I know) ... but I have a lazy eye, and over-flexible joints.

The lazy eye runs in the family (my brother, father and grandfather have it as well), so they quickly discovered it (when I was 3 or 4 years old) and they were able to correct it with glasses. If they hadn't been in time I would have been cross-eyed and they would have had to operate.

My over-flexible joints... well, as the word says, they are too flexible enabling me to do creepy tricks :D It shouldn't be a problem if it doesn't get worse though.

But as I said before, I don't think these count as an actual disability...
