 Re: Top three bands
You seem to be having a very good night, dear! Top three bands.... hmmmm.... ok, I'll give it a shot. HammerFall...of course... I think a friend of mine summed it up well when I introduced her to their music. "It's great to find a band that sings about strength and empowerment, rather than just being pissed off at the world and whining about not being understood." Of course, there's also the sheer talent of each of the members, I think they all excel in their roles. Somehow it comes across to me that they are all very dedicated to being the very best they can be, to putting forth the effort to show that it matters to be excellent, not just to stand up on stage and play because it's what they get paid to do. Joacim is one of my top three vocalists as well, other two being Geoff Tate of Queensryche and Ronnie James Dio. Any of those 3 men could sing the phone book and I'd listen, and be enthralled. And that leads us to #2- Queensryche. I have loved the Ryche for many many years. Geoff Tate has such an amazing voice, and they just rock so hard in concert. And with the release of American Soldier my admiration and respect for them has only grown. It amazes me how many people just don't "get it". I've heard more than one radio announcer comment they don't care for it. Guess what, it wasn't for you! It wasn't for me! It was for the men and women who dedicate their lives to the service and defense of our country. It wasn't about politics, it wasn't about patriotism, and it wasn't about supporting the government. It was for those men and women who leave their home, their loved ones, and everything familiar because they believe in what they're doing. I can't listen to the CD w/out crying, and I think they did an amazing job. Gee, the top two were easy to pick. A lot would tie for spot #3 I think. Let's see.... who to pick, who to pick.... Well.... Tie? Motley Crue, GnR, AC/DC... No idea who'd come in third I guess!

 Re: Top three bands
Nice going Lara Well, my top 3 is mainly based on sentimental grounds. 1) ToTo. Not metal, but boy do I love them. And they're the first band I got in touch with ever. 2) Rammstein. First metal band I got into, and they practically learned me how to speak German (and finish my school) 3) HammerFall. First heavy/power metal band I got into, including my favourite vocalist. And I know it's know allowed but 4) Rhapsody / Blind Guardian. Because they really pay much attention to their music and it's less straightforward than lots of the other power metal bands.

 Re: Top three bands
The ultimate number one: Rhapsody. My first metal band and - together with no. 2 - the most perfection symbiosis between metal and classical music. Number two: Therion from Theli onwards. Maybe an even more perfect combination. And three? Hard to say... Most probably Ayreon (includes Arjen's other projects as well). Whenever I listen to this stuff, I'm just gaping in awe for the compositions' complexity and sense behind the lines, it's just wow effect. Or Majesty - I'm sorry, Metalforce now - most catchy True Metal, even more than Manowar. Majesty is for the funny hours of life! Or or or.... You see, I have no real number three

 Re: Top three bands
Mine are easy to pick. Each of them is different.
1. Excalion I don't know what makes this young and potential band so special to me but it really is great melodic metal. A big bunch of melodies and even a bigger bunch of skill. The music stays fresh really long and the songs have huge variety and they are original afterall.
2. Stratovarius The legendary band that even these days can stay above all the competition their influence has caused. If I had to name the best musicians I know most of them would come from this band. Jens Johansson is simply so amazing and influential keyboardist that almost anyone who knows his works agrees. Jörg Michael has always been stunningly great drummer but what makes him above most others is his drum solo in the live album Visions of Europe. Lauri Porra is an outstanding songwriter and bassist. Timo Kotipelto simply is legendary and technically he is the most talented singer I have heard of. yet there are singers with better voice. Still TK beats them by a mile with his experience and skill.
3. Symphony X They sure wouldn't have made it to my top three a year ago. They have become quite important to me and I love the mixture of heavy, artitistic, emotional and interesting elements the band offers in it's music.
There are just so many other bands that would deserve attention here but everyone can't always win.

 Re: Top three bands
Change my mind? what? i haven't changed my mind since the top post.........
And i am sure i put the header as I love Hammerfall????? Have you been fiddling again Peter? I know i was pissed last night, but i still remember that.
My top 3 bands are still Hammerfall, Megadeth and Disturbed......
Well Hammerfall are as i said at the top...........but i did forget to mention Fredriks hair..........wow........i would love hair like that. Megadeth.... i fell in love at 13 with thrash and speed metal and they are band that got me into metal, i grew up with whitesnake, black sabbath and the such like, turned 13 and that was it. Disturbed, well i find they tell it like it is, touching on real issues, and not conforming to the mainstream, very much a "its ok to be individual" sort of thing............if you get my meaning.
I really should lock my computer away when i drink as i just seem to write crap everywhere...........you should see some of the conversations on my facebook page after a night drinking........lol, although the good thing is i never get hangovers........thats cool, not like the other half who thinks hes dying.........

 Re: Top three bands
Uh, that's hard. My top three Metal bands is quite easy but top three band generally... Generally: 1. AC/DC I love AC/DC since I'm able to say AC/DC. My first album I bought was AC/DC Live. This is hard. I love so many bands, it's always changing. 2. Hammerfall 3. Muse My top three Metalbands: Hammerfall Dragonforce and, can't decide...at the moment I would say Korpiklaani, but tomorrow it's maybe Blind Guardian or Iron Maiden.
