 Sports anyone?
Well since I opened up in the what makes you angry thread I might just as well open a full sport thread. So I play floorball and like I promised a few vids so you all will get an idea of what it actually is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtKhUZ0taDwThis is an official IFF vid and it takes on overview on the game. Yet it may not give the best of picture of invidual skills on this sport but instead how the game looks like (and I think the clips ain't the best ever.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcDPFn67A7IThis one however catches the main theme of what you are doing when playing floorball as an individual. So as I myself have some experience with this sport I might say that like in almost any sport there are three levels which are very far from eachother. beginner < Regular Players < Pro Each of the groups are veyr far from eachother and even with the practise of years you may never match a pro and the difference is just huge. The guy in the vid is a pro and he would beat me anyday. But still just casual play is fun as it gets. Some of you might think this is just Ice Hockey indoors. Yet the main difference between Ice Hockey and Floorball is the strict rules. Whereas Hockey is very physical Floorball is more tactical and skill oriented. As also movement is a lot easier there is more speed in the game. The ball is very light and bounces very easily and also the sticks are pretty light so it is easy to control the ball and even amateur player can bring in a shot that really crushes anything on the way. Yet as the ball is very light it doesn't make the game dangearous. Now I might just say that this post didn't end up even as close to legible or explaining as I planned it to be but I guess I'm just having another bad day. So you are free to introduce your favorite sports here and discuss them.

 Re: Sports anyone?
I played that game quite a few times when I was at school. As with lots of other sports, I'm best at goalkeeping in that game. But I play football (real football, not the gay USA version!), on a recreational base. It's a pity that some frustrated house fathers use it as an exhaust. But it's fun to do, especially if you win I don't make many goals, since most of the time I'm a goalkeeper. A fairly good one, I might say, only obstacle for me not to move to higher levels is my father's religious hobby... but sometimes, almost never, I make a mistake. But then a really stupid mistake. At my club, they're called "Andreetjes" (little André's). I don't know whether to feel honoured or embarrassed... I also play futsal, some sort of indoor football. It's way more exhausting, even though you only have to play 44 minutes (2 halfs of 22 minutes). The goals are smaller, the "field" is smaller, but the rules are way more strict. If you don't take a free kick within like 3 seconds, the ball goes to the opponent and such. In this sport, I'm a field player and usually I make a tolerable number of goals. But making a goal with futsal isn't that hard...

 Re: Sports anyone?
@ Andreas: Americans say "soccer" whilst Brits say football (at least, that's how I was taught it)... I know, nice and confusing The only sport I really do is dancing (yes I know, not everyone agrees on whether or not it is a sport... I say it is). I started at the age of 6 - 7, and this is the 18th year that I follow classes. I started out with Jazz-Dance for quite a few years, and 3 - 4 years ago I decided to switch style, because I just wanted to try something different. I started with Bellydance, Streetdance (New Style) and Ragga, and recently I also started with Flamenco. I tried Capoeira for a short while, but found it not really something for me (I have bad joints). I would love to try more different styles as well, especially Ballroom and Latin dancing, but as one needs a dance partner for that, it is rather difficult right now... need to find a dance partner first

 Re: Sports anyone?
The only sport I am doing at the moment is running. As kid I was in a swimming team. When I was something about 13, swimming became pretty boring to me and the coach didn't let me join the synchronised swimming team because I was too old. I was a really lame swimmer so it was the better for the team that I left it. Every dog swims faster than me! @Ine: dancing is awesome. I wish I could dance.

 Re: Sports anyone?
The only sport I'll watch is hockey. They really don't show much of it down here, probably because our climate just doesn't support it. As far as playing sports goes, I like archery. I can't stand American football, basketball, or baseball. There's not much soccer on TV here an it's just not a popular sport. I find NASCAR racing humorous, is that really a sport

At while winter olympics in 2002, I watched the Curling competition. I would like to try curling. It seems to be exciting.

 Re: Sports anyone?
There was a curling boom in Finland back in 2006. Finland did really well in Torino and it became very popular for a while.
